Before you Move

Make a list
Prior to packing, take complete note of your belongings. You might organize your list based upon each room of your home. After you complete your online inventory form, you will receive a copy which you may print and use as a guide.

Have plenty of supplies
Obtain more boxes and tape than you think you need. Most people underestimate and run out. Typically, unused supplies in new condition may be returned for refund after you pack.

Utilize wardrobe boxes
These large boxes allow you to keep your garments on hangers while they are moved. They will make emptying your closets a snap.

Label your boxes
To allow movers to place boxes in the appropriate rooms of your new home, label the boxes appropriately. By doing so, you will reduce heavy lifting and make unpacking easy.

Moving Day
Be available and helpful
Be present to answer questions and give directions to the movers. Stay until they finish. Accompany the movers as they inventory your household goods and resolve any questions regarding the condition of materials being moved. Give the driver directions to your new home. Inform the driver and the moving company of where you can be reached during the move.

Avoid surprises
Carefully read the information on the estimate, order for service, bill of lading, inventory, and all other completed documents before you sign them. Keep the bill of lading until your goods are delivered, the charges are paid, and any claims are settled.

Double-check
Before the moving van leaves, take one final look throughout the house to make certain nothing has been left behind.

Delivery Day
Be present to answer any questions and give directions
Supervise unloading and placement of your goods.

Make final payment
According to the terms of your agreement, make final payment before your goods are unloaded.

Inspect boxes and items for damage
Note on the inventory list all boxes or other items that are damaged before you sign any documents.
